Summary
We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Safety Specialist to support a fast-paced Parts Distribution Center. This role plays a key part in ensuring a safe work environment for all personnel, maintaining compliance with company and regulatory standards, and supporting ongoing safety initiatives. The Safety Specialist will work closely with local leadership and the corporate safety team to drive continuous improvement, maintain safety documentation, and promote a culture of safety across all shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the safety point-of-contact and subject-matter expert within the facility.
  • Implement and reinforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Support the development of new safety processes, SOPs, and training programs.
  • Maintain and track safety KPIs, training records, and compliance documentation.
  • Conduct routine inspections, audits, and job hazard analyses.
  • Monitor and report on safety-related maintenance activities and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Lead or support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective action plans.
  • Facilitate weekly safety meetings and daily safety communication.
  • Ensure proper onboarding and training for all new hires and temp employees.
  • Manage PIT certification processes and trainer documentation.
  • Support emergency action planning and required drill assessments.
  • Monitor PPE availability, usage, and effectiveness.
  • Assist with regulatory audits and ensure timely completion of follow-up actions.
  • Collaborate with management and HR to address unsafe behaviors and enforce safety expectations.
  • Maintain accurate EHS system records and serve as an on-site EHS system resource.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts based on inspections, investigations, and employee feedback.
  • Provide light HR support when needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Safety Specialist required
    • 8+ years preferred for Senior level
  • 3+ years of project management experience required.
  • Experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment preferred.
  • Basic understanding of HR functions is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and able to build strong relationships across all levels.
